Volvo will pay $1.5 million in civil penalties afterCheap Nike Free
federal regulators say the automaker failed to report safety defects in a timely manner.
The National Highway Traffic Safety AdministrationNike Free Run 2
announced Tuesday that Volvo Cars North America agreed to make the payment.
In January 2011, NHTSA began investigating whether Volvo had adequately notified the agency about concerns regarding the improper or nondeployment of driver's-side air bags in 35,000 2010 model-year Volvos. Eventually, the investigation would involve a review of six recalls in 2010 and another this year, uncovering "evidence that Volvo failed to report safety defects and noncompliances to the agency in accordance withcheap nike free
federal law," NHTSA said.
According to the agency, Volvo did not report known safety defects to the government within five days as required by law.
As part of the settlement, Volvo will change its recall decision-making process and ensure timely reporting to consumers and the federal government.
Head of design company Pininfarina dies
Sergio Pininfarina, who headed a family company known for its designs of sleek Ferraris and other cars, has died. He was 85.
The company said Tuesday that Pininfarina died overnightcheap nike free
at his home in Turin. No cause of death was given.
The company founded in 1930 has designed cars for Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Cadillac and Volvo but is most closely associated with Ferrari, designing nearly all of its models since the 1950s.
It ceased making car bodies in 2010 to focus on its design and engineering businesses.
DiCaprio an investor in Fisker Automotive
Fisker Automotive, a maker of luxury plug-in hybrid cars, said Leonardo DiCaprio is an equity investor in the company and that the actor will promote its Karma sedan as an environmentally friendly vehicle.
DiCaprio has participated in fund-raising for the closely held,Nike Free Running Shoes
Anaheim, Calif.-based carmaker, said Roger Ormisher, a Fisker spokesman. He declined to say how much the actor invested. Shawn Sachs, DiCaprio's publicist, wasn't immediately available to comment on his involvement with Fisker.

Joint venture to acquire Marquette General
Marquette General Health System in Michigan's Upper Peninsula has agreed to be acquired by a joint venture involving Duke University Health System.
Marquette General's board on Tuesday announced the agreement, which is subject to review by the office of Michigan's attorney general.
In March, officials announced a memorandum of understanding to join Duke LifePoint Healthcare.
BREWING
Michigan Brewing's brands, equipment sold
Chicago-based brewing giant MillerCoors acquired Michigan Brewing's brands and equipment at last month's auction at its Webberville brewery, MillerCoors spokesman Peter Marino said Monday.
"We bought some of the assets of the Michigan Brewing Company at auction with the primary intention of acquiring their brewery equipment, which is in excellent condition," Marino said in a statement.
"It's important to note, we do not own the brewing facility, just the equipment and the brand trademarks," Marino's statement added.
